Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (PNHZP) in Darjeeling has been named the best zoo in the country. This zoo was inaugurated on August 14, 1958. The title was awarded by the Central Zoo Authority. In this, the tide of happiness is among the people who love to travel to the whole of Bengal including North Bengal. In this context, State Forest Minister Shri Jyotipriya Mallick said that the West Bengal government is quite aware of wildlife conservation. Incidentally, in 2014, this zoo in Darjeeling received Scotland’s Earth Heroes Award. This zoo is the first in India this year. Top attractions at this zoo include red pandas, as well as snow leopards, gorillas, Himalayan tigers, and Himalayan black bears. The zoo is also internationally renowned for its breeding and conservation programs for endangered Eastern Himalayan animal species like the red panda and snow leopard.
